Full Name: Tabitha Illyana Petrovna Rasputin
Alias: Gadget
Nicknames: Tabby
Birthplace: Hudson Valley, NY
Current Residence/Base of Operations: Jean Grey School for Higher Learning
Species: Mutant
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Alignment: Hero
Allegiance: X-Men
PHYSICAL
Height: 5’9
Weight: 160 lbs
Hair Color/style: Red
Eye Color: Blue
Other: A scar from a tree-climbing accident when she was young graces the back of her neck, running up into and mottling her hairline. She also has a tattoo of a mandala on the underside of her left wrist that she received the day after she turned eighteen.
Equipment and Weapons: Tabby can’t do anything mechanically inclined without her tool belt – it has adjustable wrenches, screwdrivers, even a portable soldering iron. Nuts, bolts, screws, goggles, mini Maglite – you name it, she’s crammed so much stuff into the belt it weighs about twenty pounds. She’s pretty fond of her iPhone too and generally has it in her pocket.
Powers: Technopath – Her power gives her the ability to fix, hack, or modify any piece of technology in the spectrum of mechanics and electronics. It's as though she can directly speak to the tech, figuring out what it needs and knowing how to fix it, as well as in what manner to use the tools required. Basically, as long as she has the tools, Tabby can do whatever she wants to any piece of technology. She can also use her power to hack into computers and ATMs by understanding the bit of code or password needed to access their files and capabilities.
Skills: Technological repairs, mad video gaming skills, general knowledge of agriculture, knows how to drive a stick, automatic, and a motorcycle, can do rudimentary sewing, speaks conversational Russian (and can imitate her dad’s accent like no other), cooks a mean pot of ramen, and bakes well.
Weaknesses: (3 minimum)
1.) Tabby's powers rely solely on technology. If she was dropped in the middle of nowhere with nothing at all technological, she'd be as vulnerable as any human. She also needs the proper tools or parts to fix it, or something she can jury rig into a substitute until she gets the proper materials.
2.) The knowledge of how to fix something or how it works is not retained by default – Tabby either needs to have the technology there beneath her hands to know how to fix it, or she has to have been able to do it repetitively.
3.) Tabby needs the proper tools or parts to be able to manipulate or fix a piece of technology, or something she can jury rig into a substitute until she gets the proper materials. Otherwise, nothing’s happening.
4.) If the tech is really sophisticated and complicated, it can cause Tabby to become a little cracked while she works on it, or “break her brain” as she puts it. After all, it can be quite overwhelming knowing exactly how everything works in a jet engine or a huge computer processor.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
Personality: Tabby can be described as fun and obnoxious. Shy is a word she rarely acknowledges as a part of her vocabulary. Generally, Tabby’s disposition is what some would call too chipper. Sometimes she says wildly inappropriate things and really, really likes it, even laughing to the point of silent gasps for air. If something’s weird or kind of awkward, she’ll usually point it out or exacerbate the situation – especially if it’ll make someone else uncomfortable. There are times when she has 'off' days, and usually she's very mellow and quiet on such rare occurrences. Tabby LOVES to be surrounded by people, but that doesn’t mean she’ll die of loneliness either. She's willing to try just about anything once, and is the kind of person you'd find doing keg stands at a party. As she’s said herself, “I’m the kind of person who does something really stupid just so I can brag about it.” Tabby’s also a bit of a flirt. Though she’s just about to graduate from school, she’s had a couple of flings and been grounded on occasion because of it. She’s free spirited, but wouldn’t mind someone to go steady with.
When she's nervous or anxious, she usually bites her nails down to nubs when she’s stressed and in the face of danger she cusses like a sailor. Tabby doesn't like to be put under pressure or yelled at because then she’ll yell right back and that’s not going to help anyone. She dislikes disruptive people when she's working with tech (because, let’s face it, she could be working with something that’ll kill her and everyone else in the room AND everyone else in the next room) and she usually has ear-buds or earplugs in for her own sake and that of everyone else. She enjoys working alone with machinery and technology and sometimes even develops a kind of personal connection to the tech. Tabby knows it’s inanimate and all that jazz, but that didn’t stop her from affectionately dubbing her self-modded gaming console “Sparky.”
Of course, pairing well with her powers, Tabby loves all things even remotely technological. She’s usually the one someone will find in the rec room with a ton of Red Bull cans scattered around her and a cracked-out grin on her face from playing all-night marathons of her video game addiction of the week. She enjoys pop and punk rock music, comic books, and the wide and wonderful Internet. She’ll participate in outdoor activities (she is, after all, a farm girl), but she won’t if she doesn’t want to. Let’s face it, the new high score or unlocking the trophies of whatever video game is much more prestigious to Tabby than sunburn.
History: Tabitha Rasputin was born as the third child and first daughter of Kitty Pryde and Piotr Rasputin. It took her parents a couple more years after HYDRA was finally defeated to sort out their feelings for each other, marry, and start a family. Tabby was preceded by her brothers Joseph and Heber and followed by another brother, Collin, and finally a baby sister, Sarah. All of the children were given middle names of a relative and received a piece of their Russian heritage by also receiving a patronym.
Piotr, having grown up on a farm, wanted his children to experience the same kind of country upbringing, so he convinced Kitty to buy and operate a small family farm in the Hudson Valley, which provided only a short commute for them to the Jean Grey Institute for Higher Learning, where both parents were members of the staff. Tabby spent her childhood running around in fields, splashing in irrigation canals, chasing after Lockheed, and climbing trees with her siblings.
One by one, each of Tabby’s siblings began to manifest their mutations. At first, Tabby hoped she would get something exciting like her mother’s ability to walk through walls, or be able to turn her body to steel like her father. However, her mutation unexpectedly and anticlimactically manifested itself when she and her siblings were watching the season finale of their favorite TV show one day – and the television went black. Terrified over whether or not the heroine would live or be killed by the villain, Tabby whacked the side of the TV – and suddenly a barrier in Tabby's mind seemed to snap. She suddenly knew exactly what was wrong with the TV. Saying nothing, Tabby walked over to the TV and, using a nail file, Tabby unscrewed the back of the TV, fiddled with a few wires, and replaced the casing. The TV worked and the picture and audio was even better than before. It wasn't until after the credits began to roll that Joseph suddenly asked, “Tabby, how did you know how to do that?” Tabby had no answer, but her parents did.
Each of the Rasputin children were enrolled in the Jean Grey Institute for Higher Learning and, instead of living in the dorms like the other kids, they came and went with their parents. Tabby asked to live on campus her senior year to get a taste of what life would be like on her own and found that she rather enjoyed it. Sure, she had a roommate and she saw her parents every day, but the slight independence gave Tabby a bit of a boost and a positive anticipation of adulthood. In fact, the redhead enjoyed her independence so much that she snuck out of school into the city and got a tattoo the day after her eighteenth birthday, for which she was severely reprimanded by both her parents and the school.
Tabby’s ready for graduation in a few months, and at present her mind is busy deciding whether she should continue her education and go to college (majoring in engineering or computer science – or maybe both!), or indulge a dream that she’s recently formulated of opening her own repair shop and maybe making weapons for superheroes. She’d need capital and to develop a reputation for excellence, but hey – a girl can dream, right?
