Full Name: Joshua James Stark
Alias: Iron Man
Nicknames: JJ, Stark,
Birthplace: New York City, New York
Current Residence/Base of Operations: Avengers Tower
Species: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 22 years
Alignment: Hero
Allegiance: Avengers
PHYSICAL
Height: 5’6
Weight: 137 lbs
Hair Color/style: JJ’s hair is a deep jet black; it has the façade of looking blue under certain lights. Cut into a shaggy style, shorter in the back with longer bangs to cover a large forehead, he does very little with it save for running a comb through it.
Eye Color: His eyes are his mothers, a crisp blue hue and already tired and weary even at his age.
Other: JJ has always been a small child and despite hitting his growth spurt, he maintains his intimidating and formidable height. For one who enjoys a good burger, fries and chocolate shakes, it’s hard to keep the weight on him and he takes after his mother’s slender build. JJ has an impish look to him with a strong jaw, a swooping nose and thin lips that curl slightly more up on one side, giving him a permanent smirk and high cheekbones. He has retained his boyish looks, softening his charming features. He has an arc reactor mounted in his chest just above his heart. The high output has greatly helped fuel his heart and his suits, much like his fathers.
A mutt of nationalities, he prefers it that way; a little German, a little Spanish and Italian, there may even be some Jewish tucked in there, it keeps people guessing. His pale skin doesn’t help, taking a little after his mother but mostly it’s the fact he holes himself away for days at a time from the sun. It is not uncommon to see the faint darkening of circles under his eyes from sleepless nights. A spitting image of his father when he was his age, he carries a lot of the same mannerisms; including letting his eyes do the talking. He has his father’s hands, small and nimble with long fingers, perfect for delicate and precise work. A fantastic poker face, only those few that are close to him can pick up the subtleness of details that give away everything, the twinge of a muscle in his cheek, his normal tedious smile a little tighter than usual, the pensive creases along his brow lessened. JJ is not a man that sits still, even while trying; he’s tapping his foot, drumming his fingers and if you’re fortunate, humming a few bars of Metallica.
An individual who keeps up with fashion, its easy when you have the money to afford it. Even when he’s slumming, which is most of the time; his jeans and t-shirts are never anything you’ll find in a generic department store. He has a habit of dressing layers, unusually cold a lot of the time and wears a lot of browns and blues. He wears on his right wrist a medical bracelet, though it’s far any ordinary bracelet. Very rarely will you see him without a blue and grey backpack, which conceals a lightweight armor suit.
Equipment and Weapons: With his father’s tech as a stepping-stone, JJ has built up his own mini armada of armored suits. Similar in appearance to Tony’s Iron Man, JJ’s are silver and navy blue, not quite as flashy but equally powerful. They are sleek in design, almost like a second skin, lightweight and extremely resilient. Made with gold-titanium alloy, it solved Tony’s freezing problem in the beginning and he has continued to use an upgraded form of it as time has allowed. They’re able to withstand small firearms up to anti tank missiles with little damage other than cosmetic. Though he hasn’t completely tested it, the suits are also able to take a lot of physical damage as proven by previous models of his father’s. They also lend JJ superhuman strength, allowing him to heft upwards of several tons, roughly an oversized car. Underneath the suits, he can wear regular clothes if necessary but they tend to leave marks in his skin and can pinch. He dons a black formfitting bodysuit that helps regular his temperature and acts as extra insulation padding. Jarvis has been uploaded into his suits as well, acting as assistance when needed, helping to guide weapons and systems and help stabilize the suits in flight. It has a holographic HUD that gives him a 360-degree of visibility and readouts on his suit’s power supply and sustained damage. One of the many good things about JJ’s suits are they are biologically bonded to him. Only someone with his DNA can put the suit on and without an arc reactor to power it, the suit will do a complete shut down, trapping whoever inside a metal coffin while Jarvis alerts JJ. His medical bracelet looks like a sleek silver magnet bangle one might wear for better circulation is actually an invention of his father’s. It keeps track of his vitals, monitoring his heartbeat, blood pressure and oxygen levels. It also keeps track of how much sun JJ gets and whether he takes his medication and vitamins. Jarvis has been programmed into it, doubling as a link to his suits of armor that he can then use to call them to him.
Today, JJ has three complete suits with two more incomplete ones he’s decided to finish at his leisure. He has a general every day use one, allowing him to fly at supersonic speeds up to Mach 3, the suit protecting him from the sheer amount of G force accompanied with it. Powered by the energy repulsors found in the gauntlets and boots of his suit, he is able to fly by controlling the output and use them as weapons. It contains a uni beam projector in its chest, anti tank missiles in the wrists, anti personal guns mounted on his shoulders that are able to target specific individuals, flare launchers along his back, defensive energy shield that can be extended 360 degrees around him and houses holographic projections to use as decoys.
The second is a lightweight suit he keeps on his person at all times. Weighing roughly 25 lbs, when activated, it will unfurl from it’s casing, allowing the wearer to step into it, attaching itself much like Tony’s suitcase armor. When on, it requires 45 seconds to charge, having only the basics of armor protection, repulsor blasts from the hands and a couple of anti tank missiles along the shoulders. It is capable of flight but everything goes into it and will rapidly drain the suit’s power. His general suits have a self sufficient life support and are water proof, allowing him to work with his own oxygen supply.
He has a stealth one in black and dark blue and this allows him to vanish on electronic detection systems by manipulating magnetic fields to distort his signal. It also has some borrowed camouflage techniques from SHEILD’s Helicarrier, rendering it invisible to the naked eye. This one also been stripped of metallic parts, using composite ceramics and gel pack circuitry combined with a Kevlar polymer and optical fiber networks. It offers less protection and weaponry but makes up for it in covertness. Weapons wise, it has the ability to create sonic blasts and has pulse bolts that absorb kinetic energy and the farther they go, the more strength behind them.
The two incomplete ones are a super version of his general ones; it will have bigger and powerful weaponry and protection that was designed to battle gods and monsters of the green variety but loses maneuverability and mobility. While powerful, it is really a deathtrap for the wearer and is reserved for a last minute save the world kind of deal. The other is for space and radiation, where it will eventually be able to absorb radiation and use it as a power source. It can double as a general anti radiation suit when complete.
Every Stark isn’t a Stark until they build their first robot and JJ is no exception. He built what is affectionately refereed to as DeeDee. A robot of a different color; JJ always seems to be repainting it, DeeDee hovers around 8 feet when expanded, having a vaguely humanoid shape. A heavy set base, which houses all the electronic gear and AI allowing for greater stability in low center gravity, she moves on four ball wheels on extendable legs that are reminiscent of a spider, allowing it the dexterity to turn on a dime. DeeDee’s torso is thin and jointed similar to a wrist watch, allowing her a 360 turning basis and supports elongated arms that end in four claws. Though unnecessary, JJ felt his bot deserved a head and created a simplistic helmet and visor looking one. It has no human features such as a mouth or nose, but the visor acts as a visual screen similar to a television, giving DeeDee cosmetic eyes. She doesn’t actually see through them but rather the visual sensors on either side of her head. The eyes are animated and she has a wide range of emotions she can imitate. Like his father’s work, it was a little crude and obsolete, but DeeDee has been recently upgraded to help JJ with his armor. Still despite the AI upgrade, DeeDee’s learning algorithms are simplistic and childish at best. It’s like working with a temperamental five year old most of the time.
Powers: None
Skills: Like his father, JJ has been gifted with an immeasurable intelligence. He followed in his footsteps and entered MIT at the age of 14, but he had a leg up with his father, several good letters of recommendations and extra schooling done on the sideline under Tony’s tutelage and own interests. Before he set foot in the Institute, JJ had a firm grasp of mechanical and electrical engineering and basic artificial intelligence. Growing up surrounded by advanced technology and Jarvis simply made it easier to absorb everything.
JJ has the uncanny ability to pay attention when he’s not actually paying attention. While he may be talking to one person, he’s still retaining any other conversation near him. This can get annoying after a while but it’s apart of his photographic memory, allowing him to absorb everything around him. He has the ability to recall images, sounds and smells in memory with extreme accuracy and in abundant volume. JJ considers this his greatest personal skill, as he only needs to see/smell/hear something once for roughly 10 seconds, make a mental note and it’s filed away forever. This has lent to his eye for detail and amassed knowledge of various subjects, including a tenure level in chemistry, computer science, physics and mathematics. As of recent, he has developed an interest in quantum mechanics but has merely dipped a toe in that field.
Like his father, JJ’s ingenuity has expanded outside of schooling and though a little unorthodox in his methods, it gives him the upper edge in dealing with difficult problems and situations as they arise. As an ingenious engineer, it is only natural he has constructed a few mechanical things, DeeDee; his robot, he built at the age at 10 and what schooling couldn’t teach him, he learned from his father’s blueprints how to construct and upkeep his armored suits. Tony made sure early on his son could defend himself and enrolled him into boxing and T’ai Chi Chen style, courtesy of his uncle and godfather. He is fluent in French, Mandarin Chinese and Japanese.
Weaknesses:
1.) JJ has a vitamin D deficiency, which has left him with a few problems that will remain with him his entire life. His small size and thin bones are attributed to the low levels of calcium floating around in his system and though he can burn himself to a crisp in the sun, it will never be adequate enough to absorb the natural vitamins he needs. He feels fatigued 24/7 and normally it doesn’t interfere with his daily life, taking medications and vitamins to keep him healthy and going. A plethora of other little problems plague him and he is not the best at taking care of himself and the more strain and neglect he puts on his body, the worse it gets. His bones and muscles will ache at the end of the day and usually by noon he can barely pick up a pen due to the numbness of his fingers. Worse case scenario he lapses into a tonic clonic (gran mal) seizure. Those are the worse and none too pretty to watch and are caused by rachitic tetany he developed as a child. Though these are few and far apart, there will usually be a telltale sign of his middle and ring finger rhythmically tapping his palm and there’s only seconds before he loses consciousness and falls into a seizure, lasting a couple of minutes. JJ will typically remain unconscious for a minute or two before snapping out of it, confused and disorientated and will need several minutes to regain his senses. Some of the medications he takes, mainly the anti seizure one makes him drowsy and unable to concentrate and that is a big no-no for JJ and he is more apt to not take that one in moments of stupidity.
2.) JJ is his worse enemy, while depression is a symptom of his vitamin D deficiency; he often doesn’t think that highly of himself and can instantaneously become overwhelmed with his own self, his vast knowledge worth nothing and essentially have a mini inner meltdown leading to a downward spiral, leading him to neglect himself even more.
3.) Along with his fragile loathing sense of self, he has a general mistrust and pessimistic sense of others and the asshole persona; created as a self-imposed wall, is his way of keeping people out. He is an asshole to friend and stranger alike and it can be extremely off putting, making him difficult to work with.
4.) Insomniac, smokes and drinks. All three of things aren’t good for his health and doing all three at the same time is putting a strain on his body.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER
Personality: A candle that burns twice as bright, lives half as long. That’s how JJ lives his life, waiting for the next day to be his last. If he’s lucky, he’ll have died quietly in his sleep but if he’s unlucky, he’ll go out in some vague sense of glory. In the meantime, he lives a blazing life set on a destructive path, never really taking care of himself in his self-loathing little world he’s built. JJ is not the easiest to get along with and it’s more like dealing with a prickly cat with an aversion to socializing and yet he is a lonely man and feels like very much an outsider. A thrill seeker, the bigger the better and is prone to drag others; specifically Cash, into his reckless activities where he’ll worry about the consequences later. His temper rarely shows, simmering in the background in most cases and JJ can seem more aloof and vague the madder he gets. However his trigger are his parents, particularly his father. When the great Tony Stark produced an offspring, the media surged on it dubbing JJ as Tony Jr. and it has followed him throughout his life, overshadowed by his father’s success. Anything and everything JJ has accomplished in his short, young life has always been compared, scrutinized and overlooked in favor of his father while simultaneously being praised to being just like him.
JJ is not the kind of person to sit around doing nothing and it’s safe to say, no one’s ever been bored when the man is around. A reckless soul, he isn’t too keen on keeping himself out of trouble, going to the extremes to get things done. He has a selfish air to him and he’s not going to deny it, he does a lot of things for himself. Most people are preoccupied with the front he puts up, missing the fact that he will never let a soul make a sacrifice no matter how small for him. He believes himself unworthy of simple acts of kindness. Fierce and sharp, he’s a smug and snarky man with a chip on his shoulder, quick to throw insult and praise and muddle them as often as he can. What it all boils down to is JJ is a mess and a bundle of crazy all rolled into one chameleon costume.
JJ never wanted to be shoehorned into his father’s mold, nor did he have any real desire to take over Stark Industries. It is a huge responsibility that he’d been groomed for his entire life and he resents every aspect of it. The fact that he never had a choice for a future already lined out for him, turns him off even more. For that reason, JJ turns to his one creature comfort, building robotics as a hobby, separate from his actual work as an Avenger. Building things is his comfort zone, a place he can go to where he doesn’t have to answer to anything, or anyone nor deal with the world around him and simply be himself. He’s very protective of this place of safety and very few can intrude on it without getting booted. Nights are rough, an insomniac to the extreme, he has his runs of sleeping for a couple of hours, then back to a few days of no sleep, locked away in a whirlwind of engineering, quantum mechanics and ACDC. It will take nothing short of dragging him to the kitchen by force and making him something to eat. Or else he will live on a liquid diet of coffee and alcohol, don’t test him, he’s done it before. He also has some other enjoyments, taking an interest in guitar and harassing DeeDee, his robot. That is so a hobby. He has a sweet tooth and a love of B movies, particularly sci-fi and horror and enjoys picking them apart.
He has his own charm though, if you squint really hard, in how he deals with things. He is a horrible flirt with no tact filter to his mouth and doesn’t really care who he takes to bed, as long as he has fun. JJ prides himself on his varying talents, in and out of the bedroom and can be quite the textbook narcissist. He has an ego the size of Texas, he’s damn smart and he knows it and is far from humble about it. Never shy in sharing the wealth of knowledge he harbors and has a fondness for talking over people, no matter who they are. When he’s in a sulky mood, it’s best to stay as far away from him as you can as he is not above making your life miserable.
JJ appears as nothing more than a spoiled, superficial rich kid. He hasn’t been called a jerk for nothing, but he wasn’t always the snarky asshole he is today. He was in fact a rather quiet and giving young boy, eager to please those he thought were friends who looked past his surname. However, that wasn’t the case and in his naivety, he was betrayed, used and stolen from to the point where he couldn’t take it anymore. While he is a bit of a celebrity with fans and stalkers galore, he can count on one hand the few people he considers a true friend, none truer than Cassius Fury. Through the hard times, his childhood friend was there to help weather the storm and in return earn his trust and friendship. His health issues are not entirely secretive, but he does his best to keep it on the down low. Careful to hide when he’s tired and his body hurts to the point of tears and even when he knows he’s going down hard. The asshole persona, while a integrated part of him, is his way of keeping others out. His personal life has been traipsed enough in the papers, it is not uncommon for him to shut people out of his life. He was never particularly good at expressing the nicer side of feelings and he tries to make up for it in anonymous gestures. It’s one thing to be praised by strangers and his work, when it’s by friends, he is all too quick to shoot it down and make jokes about himself. For all the partying he’s known for and the trouble he’s been in, very few take the time to learn the real JJ.
History: Joshua James Stark, the first son of Tony and Pepper Stark, was born into a world of chaos. And that was just the home life. When your father was the world’s most brilliant man of everything engineering and your mother the brains that ran Stark Industries, chaos was simply an every day occurrence. JJ’s birth came as a little bit of a surprise as neither Tony nor Pepper were ready for children but two years into their marriage, they was blessed with a small bundle of joy. Naming Joshua came with ease, Tony letting Pepper do the hard work and as long as it wasn’t Octavius, he was good. Pepper had been the one to suggest James in honor of their newly made godfather and with a soft smile, Tony agreed, adding he would resort to calling his future son JJ and for reasons unexplained, it stuck. Born with a vitamin D deficiency, it took a few months for everyone to catch on that something was amiss when JJ had a seizure at the age of 6 months. Once properly diagnosed with rachitic tetany, his small size and weight loss made sense. Pepper had assumed he was just a fussy baby. But, one can’t put a baby on a diet and vitamins and so he was carefully monitored, avoiding the terrible fate of rickets. Still, his heart would take the brunt of his life, weakening over time.
His toddler years were a little rough; he was put on a heavy dose of vitamins and medications and put in the hospital twice with broken bones from playing too roughly. Once a couple of fingers and the second time his arm. Pepper forever busy, though she stepped down from the CEO position a few years ago, she still held a vastly important position, keeping her husband in line. She was unfortunately gone a lot, leaving JJ to Tony’s care and to keep an eye on his son, Tony often brought him down into his labs, ever wary to keep anything and everything out of reach. This often led to Dummy and Butterfingers chasing around the toddler to keep him busy and on occasion drawing with him. It was amusing to have the fridge covered in pictures from them and as the months wore on, Tony noticed something about the drawings. Childish and crude, through the scribbles he made out a mathematical algorithm he had recently written down on a scrap paper that he then handed over to his son to draw on. Only, the algorithm was copied in JJ’s scribbles.
At the age of four, these simple little drawings slowly evolved and it wasn’t until one night, when Pepper had gone to bed and JJ couldn’t sleep. Tony brought him downstairs for a late night snack of cookies and milk while he fiddled with a few things, letting him sit and draw on the pile of paperwork along his desk. What he didn’t realize was that he had left a basic scribbling of a new suit design, forgoing a holographic version in a quick sketch. Several minutes later, Tony was pulled from his thoughts as his son waved around his newest drawing, waiting to show his father. Amusing him, Tony looked at it and his jaw nearly hit the floor. JJ had redrawn the suits specs in blue crayon, following the quick simple sketchy lines, outlining a helmet and thruster pack and he saw a few scrawling vague numbers. When asked how he did it, JJ grabbed his father’s sketch and held it up and claimed he wanted to draw like him and until his son went to bed, the two drew together, Tony writing basic mathematical problems and chemistry theories, his son copying everything perfectly.
Pepper was none to pleased when Tony burst into their bedroom after he put JJ down, to show her their son’s brilliancy. Irritated, Pepper told Tony she already knew, she had a shoebox of pictures of him redrawing things he had seen, in magazines and television and if Tony wanted to keep those certain kind of magazines, that was fine as long as they were kept under lock and key. She also told him, normal children drew houses and stick figure families with rainbows, not the covers of Popular Mechanics or a receipt for a Honolulu company that made delicious coconut cookies; that would be talked about later, or a cereal box he saw once and wanted her to get. Now, if he didn’t mind, she wanted to get some sleep before she had to wake their son up for a doctor’s appointment that he no doubt would be cranky for. Tony lay awake, clutching the simplistic drawings of his armored suit, his mind turning. This would only be the beginning of many things to come, slowly unraveling JJ’s future to follow Tony’s and not necessarily all of them good.
JJ was kidnapped on his fifth birthday. It had been a huge celebration of family and friends and unfortunately, the public media. They had been scavengers since Pepper was three months pregnant, swooping in anything new and now that the son of Tony Stark was five, it was a milestone. JJ had wanted to go to Chucky Cheese, a simple request and the Stark family had rented out the entire building for their use, workers screened and background checked and extra security was brought in to keep the circus media and strangers out. It was noisy and crazy, JJ’s entire kindergarten class had been invited and that meant 30 kids plus parents, a few friends of the family and a team of security and Chucky Cheese workers. It wasn’t within the safety of Tony’s home and that’s what made it easy. All it took was the replacement a couple of the workers, a couple of fake badges and JJ was scooped up in the midst and carried out the back to an awaiting van. He was used as a bargaining chip to gain Tony’s money and Iron Man’s tech to fund their secretive mission to become something or another, Tony didn’t bother to find out as he ripped apart their base within hours of his son’s kidnapping, returning him safely to his mother’s arms. Though JJ doesn’t remember much of it; on occasion he would have nightmares that would plague him till today.
This was the final straw for Pepper, though they had been careful about it for their son’s sake, their marriage had started to become strained. It was difficult to keep work and family separated and the media poking into her life was one thing, she could handle that but not their son and most certainly not the dangers of simply existing as the son of Tony. It was a peaceful divorce, the papers went wild about it, but Tony and Pepper worked it out, Pepper would retain her position in Stark Industries and JJ would spend half the week with her and the rest with Tony. Not understanding, JJ struggled with the changes, and became frustrated and troubled over the years, getting into trouble at school to the point Pepper finally pulled him out and settled him down with private tutors.
Tony remained an Avenger and Iron Man, throwing himself into it when JJ was taken out of his life. No one knew how much damage it had done to him, the isolation of losing his wife and child and for a while returned to his old habits. When JJ was taken out of school, it seemed to snap him from his pity party and promised Pepper he would be a better father. At the age of seven, JJ excelled under the guidance of tutors and the support of his father. The childish drawings of his youth thrived overnight and the youthful memory games he played were transformed into his schooling, eating up chemistry and engineering textbooks like they were candy. Still so young, he had his father’s gift and with careful planning, JJ would one day surpass Tony. Instead of hanging out with friends and playing video games, JJ’s days were filled with classes, ranging from foreign languages to artificial intelligence at his father’s instructions. He spent more and more time with his father in his labs, working on the latest thing Tony’s mind came up. It was both academically enthralling and an honor, JJ happy to spend time with his busy father.
Just shy of his tenth birthday JJ asked Tony if they could build a robot together. Growing up with Dummy and Butterfingers had been a cherished part of his life, but he wanted something to call his own and from there, DeeDee came to life. Originally named Dummy 2, it became D2 for short and eventually just DeeDee. It was not an exact success nor was it a failure, but it was a learning step and JJ was ecstatic to call something his own and most of all, pleased that his father was proud of him. A few months later Pepper had come home with Tony after a business meeting that turned into a party, a little tipsier than she wanted and the two spent the night talking about their lives, missing each other and maybe they could give their marriage a second chance. But, it was fruitless; the fates simply didn’t work for them when they were married but God had a funny way going about things and they were given a second son, Edward. By that time, Pepper had returned to using her maiden name and moved across town, to give Edward a life away from the news media. JJ chose to live with his father; feeling like his mother had left him in favor of the new baby.
The pre teen years were difficult, once puberty set in, life was turned upside down. Tony and Pepper were busy, James was always gone and Harold was often tied up in something Tony had him running. It was a rough patch in his life and he contemplated a few unthinkable things, become tired of the fame and fortune that surrounded him. At first it had been amazing as a kid, enjoying seeing himself on the TV or newspaper but as the years wore it, it turned from annoying to outright threatening. There was nothing he couldn’t do without paparazzi in his face. That was when he met his best friend, Cassius Fury. Cash dropped into his life one day and the two became brothers for life, bonding over their assorted problems and trust, something that was rare for JJ.
When JJ started to become a bigger part of Tony’s life, it was like a cloud was lifted from his eyes. He hung up his suit, letting Rhodey and War Machine take a couple of hits for the team. However, Tony could never fully let go of who he was and did a few side missions every once in a while. Then came the idea of building JJ his own suit. Not to fight with, of course, but it had been an obsessive idea of both shrinking down the mechanics and materials and giving his son a gift for his upcoming twelfth birthday because every twelve year old wanted an armored suit that could fly. It started out as a little pet project, something he could work on in his spare time but it was hard to hide anything from JJ when the youngster snuck around like a ninja, learning a few tricks from his uncle and godfather and possibly from a visiting Avenger or two, he could never tell where JJ learned it from. Once the secret was out, Tony made his son promise that Pepper would never, ever find out and JJ solemnly swore he’d keep it to his death. Tony got a call from her later that evening.
Tony pushed JJ into his role without truly meaning to. His son could become the new Iron Man when he retired, taking over the family business and the Stark legacy would continue on. His son rebelled, reminiscent of own youth and Pepper and him argued a lot, more then they did when JJ was younger. Edward was often another focus of their arguments, Pepper disagreeing that Tony has tried to turn their son into him; she would not let the same thing happen to Edward. JJ would do his best escape it, by disappearing to work on the suits his father had handed over to him to finish and when that didn’t work anymore, he was adamant about trying them out without adult supervision. He was a smart kid, just not very bright with his safety. Luckily Jarvis put the household on a lockdown before the teen could leave the garage, but the flight test had been a success. That brought about a slew of new problems with his parents and desperate to escape it, he accepted the chance for schooling at MIT, despite only being fourteen years old. Through all of the problems of his home life, JJ never stopped his classes or the personal conquest of other subjects he wouldn’t have touched until his college years.
Under his parent’s noses he exceed his age class, putting his tutors to shame to the point of boredom. He needed more than his father, than Jarvis and both Tony and Pepper agreed school was the best choice out of everything. It was everything that JJ loved and more, eager to put his skills to the test and spent a term immersed in science, chemistry and math. He didn’t make any friends that Fall and on more than one occasion made an enemy of a cheating partner and lazy classmate and once his father had to make a sizeable donation as an apology for JJ destroying half of the Kresge auditorium, on accident of course.
Life was just starting to shape up when JJ suffered a catastrophic heart attack brought on by the deterioration of his heart muscles. He was alone, working in the MIT lab and the attack came suddenly and without warning, he seized and lost consciousness. His medical bracelet alerted Tony who had prepared for this day. When his son was just little, he created an arc reactor tailored to JJ’s needs should his health decline and presented it to Pepper. She trusted his work and they held off on telling their son, in hopes it wouldn’t come to it. JJ was rushed into emergency surgery and gained the reactor node and his life hung into the balance during the delicate operation. They nearly lost him, but he came through in the end. His family was there when JJ awoke and when he touched his chest and felt metal and steel, all hell broke loose. Angry and betrayed, he got into a terrible argument and Tony left with his son screaming at him from his hospital bed. Pepper said to give him time, it would be a really big adjustment. Tony was called away a few days later for a solo mission in Europe and nobody’s quite sure what exactly transpired, but there was a problem and massive explosion resulted in the death of Iron Man.
It was a crippling blow to his family, JJ had to deal with the last things he said to his father and none of it had been nice. Tony made sure his family would be well taken care of. As eldest and future prodigy, he got nearly everything, the company, the suits, wealth. Pepper took over Stark Industries until JJ came of age, though she never pushed him. What was left of the Avengers had a hole that couldn’t be filled and though Tony never asked his son, JJ knew what he had to do. He stepped up to take over the Iron Man mantle at the age of eighteen, setting everything aside to do so. JJ became the standing CEO of Stark Industries at the age of nineteen, though the company is currently being run by a board of directors, he still holds the majority of power over it. As much as he didn’t want to be his father, JJ has done a pretty poor job at it.
